Art and history are hooking up this summer as Portage and District Arts Centre partners with Fort la Reine Museum to offer a history-themed camp for kids.

This new summer camp, offered through PDAC, is dubbed the Heritage Camp, which runs from August 13 to 17, and will be held at Fort la Reine Museum.

"The kids are going to meet out there every day and do very similar things they do here at our usual art camp," said Armstrong. "There will be drama, painting, some dance and a little bit of work with clay and fibre. It will all be on the theme of Heritage."

"It's a brand new, innovative exciting camp," added Armstrong.

Kids, from ages 7 to 13, will get a chance to paint rocks and examine artwork with the theme of Heritage in mind.

The camp also includes a daily tour of one aspect of the museum, such as learning about the tractor display or the military exhibit.

Local artists will be running the camp at the museum, including Micheline Berard who will be teaching aboriginal powwow dancing.
