By Robin Dudgeon...Firefighters look on as crews from Manitob Hydro tend to a tree that had fallen over a powerline on 3rd. St. NE, Thursday.
Portage Emergency Services blocked off 3rd St. NE for a time, Thursday afternoon, after high winds caused a tall tree to fall on a powerline and cut power to the northeast corner of the city.
Manitoba Hydro reported that the fallen tree caused the powerline to arc and block the feeder approximately 12:30 p.m. Thursday cutting power to 230 customers for an unknown amount of time.
Hydro then got up in a bucket truck and cut away parts of the tree before power was restored.
