PCRC volunteers clean up near PCI

By Robin Dudgeon, Portage Daily Graphic

A small but dedicated number of volunteers took the time on a sweltering summer day to clean up their community during the Portage Community Revitalization Corporation (PCRC) community clean up held Wednesday.

The event began at 4:00 p.m. at Portage Collegiate when groups began to trickle in. In total there were four or five groups of volunteers who cleaned a number of streets near PCI.

Afterwards volunteers were treated to a barbecue with hot dogs grilled by Jean-Marc Nadeau and demos of the new fire truck by firefighter Daren Van Den Bussche.

Over all staff was very pleased with the event and will be hosting clean ups throughout the summer with one scheduled for July and another coming up in August.
