Regulations for speed limits in school zones is moving slower than the projected new speeds.

Now that the Speed Zone legislation bill has been passed, the Province is looking at handing over the power to regulate speed zones in municipalities in time for the 2013-2014 school year.

Portage MLA Ian Wishart said that there is still much to figure out and added that he hopes municipalities come together to discuss a model speed limit that can be used for all areas in the Central Plains.

"I hope that we can sit down and say 'we're all going to do this'. Otherwise we could end up with different speed zones in different town and municipalities, which would be very confusing," said Wishart.
