Community clean-up at PCI, Wednesday 0
The Portage Community Revitalization Corporation (PCRC) will be hosting its second clean-up of the summer, Wednesday, at Portage Collegiate.
Volunteers can begin meeting on the north side of the grounds starting at 4:00 p.m. where PCRC staff will divide them into groups, give them supplies, and assign them to an area.
"This is one of our ongoing community clean-ups. All we're asking is for people to come out and sign up. We'll supply them with all the supplies they need - gloves, bags, recycling bags, and a water bottle and all this - and we send them off in groups to clean up a specified area and each group get a different block or street or whatever depending on the size of the group and that," said Mary Lynn Moffat, community facilitator for PCRC.
When groups return from their assigned area they are invited to stick around for a barbecue with hot dogs, goodies, and possibly an appearance by the Portage RCMP and Fire Department if they are not out on a call.
