The PRRA has been seeing some changes recently, including the addition of a new operations manager.
Randy Miller, who is the new facility operations manager for the Portage Regional Recreation Authority, has been busy since taking over his post.
Originally from Neepawa, Miller took over his position in February.
"It's very busy, very challenging," he said of his work.
Miller looks after the daily operations of the PCU Centre, Splash Island and Republic of Manitobah Park.
He oversees the maintenance work of the facilities, including the grass cutting outside, as well as the Shindleman Aquatic Centre and Splash Island. He also looks after the ice maintenance and overall cleaning of the facility.
Miller replaced Dave Green who remains the City of Portage Parks Manager.
He said he is planning some minor repair work at The Shindleman Aquatic Centre over the summer, and notes everything is running along smoothly at the PCU Centre and the other PRRA facilities.
The Shindleman Aquatic Centre will be closed temporarily for the first two weeks of July. The facility will be cleaned up and will have some paint touch-up work done. There are also some tile repairs to be completed.
