Central RHA records a $2.9 million surplus 0

The Central Regional Health Authority (RHA) wrapped up their fiscal year with a surplus of $2.9 million or 1.3 percent. The surplus was a result of Manitoba Health giving the RHA $3 million towards the end of their fiscal year.

While it isn't record breaking, it was a very good showing the region as they avoided a deficit.

This was the Central RHAs last fiscal year, as it was merged with the South Eastman RHA to create the new Southern RHA last month.

The Central RHA had a $228 million budget to work with this past year. Majority of the regions dollars were spent on improving frontline health care for its residents.

"Approximately $150 million was spent on facilities this (fiscal) year," said Ken Klassen, vice-president of finance for the Central RHA. "That includes improving hospitals, care homes, clinics and more."
