The Portage Regional Recreation Authority is seeing many plans ahead for the summer.

The PRRA has a new recreation manager who is busy planning activities for youth during their summer break.

Devon Ford, Recreation Manager with Portage Regional Recreation Authority in Portage la Prairie, is involved in the summer camp and programming at the centre.

He started two weeks ago in his position and is based out of his office at the PCU Centre.

Ford was previously a summer day camp co-ordinator with the PRRA a couple of years ago. He is excited to be involved with the programming now on a full-time basis.

Currently Ford is on the go planning the Canada Day celebrations at Island Park in Portage.

The day will include a pancake breakfast, birthday cake cutting, an opening ceremony at 10 am as well as entertainment by local performers on Island Park. There will also be a kids play zone and petting zoo. In the evening there will be a fireworks display at 10:30 pm to take in.
