Students at Ecole Crescentview School have shown when there is a need they are there to ante up their support.
Teacher Vicki Hooke said the school managed to raise the most money for a school in the province for the Unicef Canada campaign last fall, almost $10,000.
The announcement was made at the school assembly last month.
"We just got a special certificate that confirmed we were the top school in Manitoba, and we are in the top five in Canada," said Hooke.
The whole school took part in the fundraiser, but the Grade 3 classes started the local school's project.
The Unicef project is part of the school's social studies curriculum, which includes learning about other countries and encouraging good citizenship.
"My Grade 3 Class and I spearheaded it, but it's all the Grade 3s project," said Hooke, "but the whole school, K to 4, is part of it."
Ecole Crecentview School raised $9,451 for the October 2011 campaign, beating by far the amount the school usually raises, which is about $2,000.
