The Portage District General Hospital received a massive turnout for their 23rd annual Foundation Friday BBQ on Friday.
Hundreds of people turned out for the event to support the Portage and District Hospital Foundation attain equipment for the hospitals and its needs. The BBQ was held in dedication to the memory of Shirley McCulloch.
Portage-Lisgar MP Candice Hoeppner was also on hand to support the efforts and even did a little singing with John's Troupe, who served as the event's entertainment.
"It's a great reason for the people of the Portage area to support the Foundation. It's warm inside and the warmth is showing on the outside. It's very good to see the people come together and help the community," said Hoeppner.
"This BBQ would not be possible without the support of many businesses and sponsors in Portage. There are many of you who have supported this event for the last 23 years and we wish to thank you all. The support from the community makes this a successful event," said Erin Miller-Simpson, executive director of the Portage District General Hospital.
