Trudy Heal of Best Cooking Pulses Inc. briefed the Portage Rotary Club on the history of her company and the new markets it is now expanding into.

Best Cooking Pulses Inc. has been operating in Portage la Prairie for the last 60 years and has been in existence for the past 75 years focusing on pulses including beans, lentils, chick peas, and field peas.

Today, while peas are processed in Saskatchewan their shells are shipped to Portage la Prairie where they are ground into pea bran for animals and pea fiber for humans. From there the product is used in commercial baking, in filler for sausages, and for pet foods.

Best Cooking Pulses Inc. ships their product all around the world including to Central America, South America, Europe and Northern Africa.
