58,200 jobs added in April: StatsCan
Statistics Canada says 58,200 jobs were created in April.
Although the number of jobs increased, StatsCan says more people searching for work caused the unemployment rate to go up .1 percentage points to 7.3%.
The job spike was mainly in the goods sector, StatsCan says, with increases in the construction, manufacturing, natural resources and agriculture industries.
Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador added jobs, but there was little change in Ontario, Manitoba and Nova Scotia.
