The Portage Aeros kicked off their Manitoba Major Soccer League second division season with a 8-2 win over Stonewall United on Saturday at Republic Park.

The Aeros showed some stellar prowess on offence while exhibiting stinginess on defence to blast off with the win.

"Guys played really well. We have a new group for the most part and it's one of the best team we've had in years. We're playing under a system and we're doing really well," said Chad Green, head coach of the Aeros.

Green also said that he was happy with the way his team played because he saw his guys share the ball and make some good passes to set up key opportunities.

"They played together as a team and there wasn't a lot of individualism. No one was greedy and they worked hard, which is the biggest thing," said Green.

The team showed a lot of hustle and commitment to their system, which Green said has been a new adjustment for the team this year.

The Aeros will look to continue their winning ways against the Euro Selects at 12 p.m. in Winnipeg on Saturday.
