A special Memorial Dedication is planned for First Presbyterian Church in Portage la Prairie on Sunday, May 6.

First Presbyterian Church will unveil a memorial to former members of the congregation who have made significant contributions to the church's life and work. This is a part of celebrations of Presbyterianism's 150 year history in Portage la Prairie and area.

The present church building is located at 17 Royal Road south and was opened for services in December of 1927. This church was built by those worshippers who chose to remain Presbyterian after church union in 1925.

The memorial at present containing over 75 names is being completed by the Church Finance and Maintenance committee. The dedication service will be conducted by Rev. John Zondag minister of the congregation.

The building has undergone a number of repairs and upgrading in the past few years, brining all services up to date and complying with building and fire code standards.

Present and former members and adherents of the church are invited to attend the service on Sunday, which begins at 10:30 a.m.
