'Pony Express' riding into town
The Pony Express is coming to a town near you - well just three.
The Glad-West Rec Commission and the Gladstone Community Theatre Group have teamed up to put on their first production, Blame it on the Pony Express, in Westbourne, Gladstone and Plumas.
"I am so excited to be a part of the new Community Theatre Group in Gladstone," said Susan Rosa, director of the Glad-West Rec Commission. "The cast of incredibly talented locals have been busy rehearsing for the past few months (getting the play together)."
The play is a western-style melodrama with a hint of romance. A man named Gideon Culpepper opens the Last Chance Inn while Horace Prickley agrees to help a woman named Flossie win the heart of her true love, Theodore Vanderthistle - a wealthy businessman.
Vanderthistle's mother, Vedlia, has other plans and sends for Posey Lee Perriwinkle on the Pony Express; however, once she arrives, she falls for Culpepper instead.
The drama continues and you can see it for $10. Rosa said tickets can be purchased from local Gladstone businesses soon.
