Fire Dept. responds to crash, car fire 0

Portage Emergency Services responded to a car fire and a two-car collision over the weekend that left two vehicles undriveable.

On Saturday Apr 28 at 4:05 p.m. Portage Emergency Services responded to a car fire in the parking lot of the Portage Mall. The vehicle, that belonged to a mall employee, was parked near the shopping cart storage area when the blaze started.

The hood had to be removed and the motor area extinguished in order to put out the flames. The car then had to be towed from the scene.

No injuries occurred as a result of the fire.

On Sunday Apr. 29 at 2:46 p.m. Portage Emergency Services responded to a two-vehicle collision at 8th St. NW and Lorne Ave.

One of the occupants received minor injuries but was not transported to hospital. Moderate damage occurred to both vehicles; one was drivable the other had to be towed from the scene.
