By Robin Dudgeon...Monday's city council meeting approved a variation order that will see this lot on Caithness St. subdivided. Meadowland Homes Ltd. then plans to build a single family residence on each of the lots.

The City recently approved an application by Meadowland Homes Ltd. to subdivide a lot on Caithness St. into two separate lots for residential development.

Jim Keaveney of Meadowland Homes Ltd. applied to subdivide the 10,600 square foot lot in the south end of Portage into two lots of 5,308 square feet for residential development.

Keaveney hopes to build single family homes on each lots; the homes will be in the 1,200 to 1,300 square foot range.

Meadowland Homes Ltd. needed to apply for a variation to the lot because it sat below the minimum site area of 6,000 square feet, and below the minimum site width of 60 feet.

The plan for the subdividision was sent to Manitoba Hydro, the Portage la Prairie Planning District, and Manitoba Planning Services with no concerns expressed.
