Staff and residents at Douglas Campbell Lodge in Portage la Prairie took the opportunity to recognize the Queen's Diamond Jubilee on Friday.
The Diamond Jubilee in 2012 marks 60 years of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
At the Douglas Campbell Lodge there was a special anniversary cake featuring a picture of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
The marking of the Jubilee is running from February to August around the world.
"A lot of the residents and volunteers here are from that era," said Joanne Larson, who is the administrative assistant for Douglas Campbell Lodge and Lions Prairie Manor. "They remember the Queen. For a lot of the residents, this is part of their life and heritage."
The Lions Prairie Manor also had events Friday to recognize the Jubilee.
