The Portage Judo Club dominated at the Steinbach Open held in La Broquerie on Saturday, sending 13 athletes and returning with 12 medals, including seven golds.

The under-11 fighters impressed, as Hannah Friesen (under-25 kg), Carter Friesen (under-30 kg) and Ty Funk (under-39 kg) all took home gold. Keegan Tennant (under-13, under-34 kg), Ryan Walker (under-17, under-73 kg) Natasha Burton (under-17, under-52 kg) and Pinto Town (senior novice under-90 kg) all captured first place as well.

As for bronzes, Owen Friesen (under-11, under-34 kg), Troy Doherty (under-13, under-34 kg), Makayla Timony (under-15 under- 17 combined under-57 kg) and Burton (senior women under-52 kg under-57 kg combined) all took silver.

Michael Armishaw nabbed the club's lone bronze medal in the under-13, under-38 kg class.

Two others narrowly missed out on hardware as Marshall Sandney (under-13, under-38 kg) and Tyler Hulley (under-17, under-73 kg) finished in fourth place.
