Jarvis Meats a boon to hunters
It's business as usual at Jarvis Meats Ltd. in Gladstone.
Garth and Marj Jarvis have operated the Gladstone store since its inception in 1984.
In that time, the pair have developed a reputation for reliable service and speedy packaging of the big-game catches brought in by hunters throughout the Central Plains region.
To help cut down on the time it takes for the company to process meat brought to them, Garth Jarvis recommends hunters clean, skin and gut their catches, as well as boning the carcasses at home.
"It's important to know, though that we have limited space for whole deer, " said Jarvis.
Besides deer, Jarvis Meats Ltd. handles numerous varieties of wild game, such as moose, elk and geese.
The company specializes in making 15 different types of sausages, steaks, roasts, ground meat and delicious jerky.
"We even make sausage for those who have food allergies, like lactose intolerance and gluten free."
Jarvis Meats is open Mondays to Fridays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Jarvis reminded customers the store is closed each day from
12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
