School has only been out for a short time, but already a group of Portage la Prairie students are back to it, continuing their education en francais.
For the past week Camp Soleil has been running at Ecole Crescentview School, offering elementary-aged French immersion students a chance to keep their language skills sharp while having some summer fun.
"The camp is going great, the kids are learning lots, I'm learning lots," said Alex Boyachek, one of the counsellors.
Boyachek, 16, has just finished Grade 10 at Portage Collegiate Institute in the French immersion program.
One of the things that the children have learned is the importance of applying la crème solaire - sunscreen, a phrase that struck Alex as unusual.
"It sounds like food," she said.
Learning may the purpose of the camp, but it still has to be fun.
