Portage hospital expecting new equipment 0
The Portage District General Hospital will receive a new, mobile X-ray suite in the coming months thanks to a government-funding announcement late last month.
The new equipment should be delivered to the facility sometime in the spring or summer.
Health Minister Theresa Oswald announced $17.7 million worth of new and replacement diagnostic testing equipment for hospitals around the province Jan. 29.
That includes the mobile X-ray suite, which can be moved around the hospital so patients who aren't mobile don't have to be moved for X-rays.
The new mobile X-ray will replace the aging unit the hospital already has.
"It's always a very good thing for the community and the patients receiving care to have modern and up-to-date equipment, for sure," said Pat Nodrick, director of health services at the hospital.
